Walking Groups
Free Support ServicesResearch shows that exercise offers numerous benefits for cancer patients. During and after cancer treatment, appropriate physical activity can help relieve treatment-related side effects, improve treatment outcomes, promote recovery, and enhance quality of life.
CanCare established the Walking Group in 2018. Led and accompanied by CanCare volunteers, participants engage in walking activities and stretching exercises that last approximately one to two hours. This activity also gives participants the opportunity to share their experiences and stories with fellow survivors.
Transport at own cost and bring your own food and drinks.
Objectives of the CanCare Walking Groups:
- To encourage cancer patients to participate in exercise programs that benefit their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
- To provide a safe environment and a group-based platform for exercise for cancer patients.
CanCare runs two walking groups and welcomes cancer patients and their caregivers to join. Registration is required.
