To our CanCare Supporters, Partners & Volunteers
As I reflect on the remarkable journey of CanCare over the past year, my heart is filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. The annual report written by our CEO, Rev Dr Jackie Chan, is a testament to what can be achieved when a community of faith and compassion comes together with a shared purpose. It is on behalf of the CanCare Management Board that I write to you today to say a profound “thank you”.
This past year has been a vibrant spectrum of service, connection, and hope. Because of your unwavering support—whether through your prayers, your generous donations, your time, or your partnership—we have been able to walk alongside hundreds of individuals and families navigating the challenging path of cancer.
Together, we have seen:
- Lives equippedthrough important training like the 「敢恩有您」- “Dare to be Grateful” workshop and our “Four Seasons of Life” course.
- Hearts comfortedthrough the empathetic, one-on-one connections of our Companion Telephone Support program and Visitation service.
- Communities builtin our support and walking groups, where over 300 people monthly found a safe space for sharing and encouragement.
- Conversations openedthrough significant events like the “Healing Body and Mind – Modern Medicine and Holistic Therapy” seminar, Chinese radio programs and the moving “Drama of Life” musical, reaching thousands with messages of hope and the importance of life and death education.
Our volunteers have been the very hands and feet of this ministry, serving with incredible selflessness. We see God’s strength upholding our volunteers as they offer their time, help in comforting patients, and support for families in their most vulnerable moments. Our volunteers have been a vital part of delivering God’s mission for CanCare. Our church partners have provided a foundation of prayer and practical support, and our donors have provided the essential resources that make our new initiatives and regular activities possible. You have all answered a sacred call and enabled our work.
Our 18th Anniversary Thanksgiving Dinner was a beautiful reminder of how far CanCare has come in 18 years, and how faithfully God has guided this ministry. Truly, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)
As we look ahead, we are excited to expand our reach with online training, deepen our impact with the themes from our new book Order in Impermanence, and continue to partner with wonderful organizations like CASS. The need for our compassionate, Christ-centered care has never been greater, and our vision to serve remains steadfast.
On behalf of the CanCare Management Board, thank you for your unwavering support. You have enabled CanCare to bring hope and warmth to cancer patients and their families. Together, we are building a community marked by compassion and hope.
May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may we continue to walk this journey of care together.
